1 in 8 Billion data sources and 15+ content note

Which public datasets 1 in 8 Billion names, how to read its real statistics and what the official 15+ content note means for players.

Content note · ages 15+The official project warns that a simulated life can include death, illness, war, poverty, violence and other difficult subjects. There are no graphic scenes, but the topics can still be upsetting.

Which sources does the game name?

The official homepage names sources including the UN World Population Prospects 2024, UN Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation, World Bank World Development Indicators, WHO, UNESCO UIS, UNDP Human Development Reports, ILO, UNAIDS, UNODC, UNICEF, FAO and the World Happiness Report. The source list can change as the beta develops, so use the official page for the current wording.

Real statistics do not make a real prediction

The game uses public distributions to create a fictional run. A country average, mortality rate or education statistic can describe a population without predicting what will happen to one specific player. EarlyWiki will not turn the simulation into medical, lifespan, financial or social advice.

When to stop a run

The official content note covers difficult themes such as death, illness, war, poverty, violence, sexual violence, suicide, gambling and drugs, and points players toward help links. If the topic is affecting you, pause or leave the game and use a trusted local support service rather than treating the simulation as a diagnosis.
