Short answer
In a full public PokéBonk co-op room, the current leader has 60 seconds to start the run. If the timer reaches zero, the leader leaves and the next player takes over. The whole room sees the countdown, while the leader receives a warning at 20 seconds.
What happens during the countdown
- Wait until the public team is full and check which player has the leader crown.
- Watch the visible start timer. The leader should choose the map and press Start before it reaches zero.
- When the warning reaches 20 seconds, the leader should start or hand over naturally by timing out.
- If players are still connecting, the clock pauses until the connection phase is finished.
Why Find a Match behaves differently now
Find a Match should avoid rooms whose leader has already timed out. That removes the old “join an idle room and wait forever” failure mode described by earlier co-op reports. It does not guarantee an immediate match when the selected mode, region or team size has no available players.
If the room still looks stuck
- Check whether the room is still connecting players; the timer should not punish a slow connection.
- Check the leader countdown before refreshing or leaving.
- Record the mode, team size, browser, visible version and exact timer state if the room removes the wrong player.
- Do not treat a screenshot of one room as proof that every older build used the same timeout.
This page covers the public-room start rule only. For the separate team pause budget, protection reserve and older saved-run checks, use the co-op pause guide.
